Service from Orlando to Antigua and Barbuda will soon commence with Frontier

Airlines launching another new nonstop route to the Caribbean Islands.

This service will commence on the 4th of December. 2021. It is a low-cost carrier with nonstop weekly Saturday flights. December is projected to be a solid holiday season for Antigua and Barbuda. Antigua and Barbuda was recently named Best Honeymoon Destination in the Caribbean at the CJ Travelers’ Choice Awards 2021.

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

Within the Commonwealth of Nations, Antigua is one of the main islands that make up the Independent nations of Antigua and Barbuda, located in the Eastern Caribbean Sea, being a part of the Leeward Islands in the West Indies. The island is known for its exquisite resorts, tropical rainforests and reef-lined beaches. Antigua and Barbuda is filled with historic sites and many of the islands cultural and historical artefacts. The capital, St John, is where the museum is domiciled, and it is a showcase of this fact.

The growth of tourism in Antigua and Barbuda continued with a high August 2021 figure. Tourism in Antigua and Barbuda continues to grow as one of the Caribbean’s buzziest destinations, and it reported another record-breaking month of tourism performance. Recently released statistics from the tourism ministry show that stayover air arrivals for August 2021 totalled 18,792 visitors to the destination, an increase of 965 visitors over August 2018, which previously held the record of “best” August with 17,827 visitors. The August record-breaking results came after a similarly strong July, when 23,405 tourists came to Antigua and Barbuda, a record for that month, too. The US and UK markets remain the source for most of the visitors, and both markets combined brought 17,306 visitors or 92% of the total visitors arriving in August 2021.  The US market dominates as the primary source market, with 52.5% of the total visitor arrivals. In contrast, the UK, Antigua and Barbuda’s second-largest source market contributed 39.5% of the total visitor arrivals.

Antigua is considered one of the most exclusive and romantic Caribbean destinations and famous for her 356 spectacular beaches,” one for each day of the year”.

The Sailing week, a well-known worldwide event, usually takes place every April, and this is a major event in the sailing world.

Spending in Antigua?

Depending on your spending habits and budget;

  1. Are you travelling solo or with dependents?
  2. Are staying in an all-inclusive hotel, Airbnb or a guest house.
  3. Are you renting a car?
  4. How many tours are you booking?
  5. What is the duration of your trip?
  6. Will you be eating out or doing your own cooking?

Put into adequate consideration that nice guesthouses with no meals would go for around 200 USD per room while the best all-inclusive hotels would probably range between 500 to 1000 USD a night.

Are you a solo traveller?

Then bear in mind that the all-inclusive hotel prices have become outrageously high. Much cheaper if you travel in groups and share bills. You can also check out some Airbnb options if you don’t want to spend exorbitantly at a hotel. There are many comfortable Airbnb accommodations within flexible budgets. When eating out, you can find unique dishes in local restaurants at budget-friendly prices. If you want to go on boat tours, the prices range between 120USD to 200USD.

Safety in Antigua?

Antigua is definitely considered safe to travel. But like travelling to anywhere else in the world, you need to be cautious and safety conscious. Some safety precautions are;

  2. Leave valuables in the hotel safe.
  3. Avoid hiking alone
  4. Do not visit deserted beaches alone
  5. Avoid night visits to public beaches

Is Antigua open for tourism?

On arrival or at your place of lodging or at the hotel, as determined by the Health Authorities, visitors may be required to undergo testing for COVID-19.

Throughout Antigua and Barbuda, wearing face masks in public spaces is mandatory, and all physical distancing protocols must be adhered to. All passengers arriving must wear a face mask on disembarking at the airport and in all public places.

All passengers arriving by sea, either by Ferry or private yachts, are subject to quarantine according to guidelines issued by Port Health.
