A Dominican event called the Carnival takes place throughout February and sporadically during Holy Week in March. In the majority of cities and villages, the main streets are where Dominican Carnival is celebrated. As opposed to all other carnival events taking place outside throughout the month of February, Santiago de Los Caballeros’ carnival gala marks the beginning of the carnival season in the Dominican Republic. Its loud music and dazzling costumes are just a few of its key traits. The earliest Carnivals to take place in the Americas were those conducted in La Vega, one of the largest in the nation, and the national parade in Santo Domingo.
