The Islands of

Turks and Caicos

Turks and Caicos is an archipelago of 40 low-lying coral islands in the Atlantic Ocean, a British Overseas Territory southeast of the Bahamas. The gateway island of Providenciales, known as Provo, is home to expansive Grace Bay Beach, with luxury resorts, shops and restaurants. Scuba-diving sites include a 14-mile barrier reef on Provo’s north shore and a dramatic 2,134m underwater wall off Grand Turk island.

Popular

Destinations

Lying off the southeastern tip of the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos Islands encompass one of the world’s largest coral reef systems. Not surprisingly, diving is one of the top things to do here. Exquisite white-sand beaches fringe this necklace of about 40 islands, where water sports, nature trails, iguana reserves, underground caves, and dazzling seascapes are the main draws.

Fishing is also excellent, and from January through April, you can spot humpback whales on their annual migration route around these unspoiled islands.

Of course, the speciality is conch prepared in every way you can imagine.

Part of the experience here is that you get to watch them catch and clean the conch. Live entertainment is offered on a regular basis at this stop on the northwestern shore.

Mango Reef offers a selection of fresh local flavours and international favourites with seating outside, inside, and under a covered patio right along the waters of a calm bay. The chef here has carefully cultivated a menu that draws inspiration from all over the world for the finest food in the Caribbean fusion culinary tradition. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, with a carefully created wine list and craft cocktails available. Their menu changes with seasonal fresh food, but they are famed for their lobster lunch and seasonal local lobster dinners.

The restaurant is located at the Turtle Cove Marina along Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales. It’s a fine place to come for an upscale yet casual dining experience.
