The Islands of

Turks and Caicos

Turks and Caicos is an archipelago of 40 low-lying coral islands in the Atlantic Ocean, a British Overseas Territory southeast of the Bahamas. The gateway island of Providenciales, known as Provo, is home to expansive Grace Bay Beach, with luxury resorts, shops and restaurants. Scuba-diving sites include a 14-mile barrier reef on Provo’s north shore and a dramatic 2,134m underwater wall off Grand Turk island.

Lying off the southeastern tip of the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos Islands encompass one of the world’s largest coral reef systems. Not surprisingly, diving is one of the top things to do here. Exquisite white-sand beaches fringe this necklace of about 40 islands, where water sports, nature trails, iguana reserves, underground caves, and dazzling seascapes are the main draws.

Fishing is also excellent, and from January through April, you can spot humpback whales on their annual migration route around these unspoiled islands.

Things To Do In

Turks and Caicos

From the silky sands and mega resorts of Grace Bay on lively Providenciales in the north to the whale-dotted waters of Salt Cay in the south, the charming colonial canons and harbors of Cockburn Town to the dreamy underwater reefs of the Columbus Landfall, the Turks and Caicos are a land of paradise and wonder.

Consistently rated as the home of some of the Caribbean’s best-looking beaches, and imbued with everything from rugged clifftops to fascinating Indian come European histories, they rarely disappoint.

Expect tasty fish barbeques and refined Caribbean dishes alike; get ready for crumbling plantations and SCUBA spots; prep for some serious sunbathing and snorkelling, and start thinking about those multi-coloured iguanas and colossal Eagle rays.

Fresh Island Flavours

Infiniti Bar

Infiniti Bar draws a huge, hip, young crowd every Friday night with a stylish ambiance, intimate comfy seats, and smooth music for a laid-back bohemian vibe. You can come here to hang out with your friends under the stars, jam to great music, and enjoy the sound of the waves on the ocean and the scent of the salt air. The bar stretches 90 feet from the Grace Bay Club hotel to the shores of the beach, the first “infinity edge” bar in the world.

The food menu is solid, too, with tapas dishes as well as craft cocktails. It’s a full-service establishment, so have a seat and just chill out after the day’s adventures.

Da Conch Shack

Da Conch Shack offers great seashore views from this iconic Turks and Caicos restaurant that nourishes the body and soul with fantastic fusion cuisine. Here you’ll be able to grab just about any kind of food you want, from fresh seafood to chicken, steak, barbecued ribs, and even vegetarian-friendly dishes. Don’t forget to grab one of their delectable desserts. Whatever food you choose, be assured that it’ll come with a special island flair. Of course, the speciality is conch prepared in every way you can imagine.

Part of the experience here is that you get to watch them catch and clean the conch. Live entertainment is offered on a regular basis at this stop on the northwestern shore.

Mango Reef

Mango Reef offers a selection of fresh local flavours and international favourites with seating outside, inside, and under a covered patio right along the waters of a calm bay. The chef here has carefully cultivated a menu that draws inspiration from all over the world for the finest food in the Caribbean fusion culinary tradition. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, with a carefully created wine list and craft cocktails available. Their menu changes with seasonal fresh food, but they are famed for their lobster lunch and seasonal local lobster dinners.

The restaurant is located at the Turtle Cove Marina along Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales. It’s a fine place to come for an upscale yet casual dining experience.

Covering a total land area of 616.3 sq. km (238.0 sq mi), the territory comprises of the smaller Turks Islands and the larger Caicos Islands as observed on the physical map of the territory above.

The islands (for most part) consist of low, flat limestone formed by coral reefs and include 8 main islands and over 22 smaller islands. The islands have extensive marshes and mangrove swamps, and all of them are ringed by sandy beaches. Middle Caicos and North Caicos are covered in some areas by green woodlands and a network of caves.
